This sentence is especially true for this 4-room flat with one of the bedroom hacked and opened up, letting in a generous amount of sunlight and space. The homeowners’ intention for the big open space is to create a play area for their baby girl that is good for family bonding time, and also to invite friends over.

The design goal here is to pick out the right furniture that complements and complete the open space for the living, dining and study area, while the challenge is keeping the home simple and spacious.

Setting The Tone Of The Home

The living room is one that grounds the home and with such a big and open space, it can only be anchored by a defining furniture piece, one just like the Elda sofa.

The elegant Elda sofa features white fabric upholstery with wide seats and chaise, making it luxuriously comfortable and great in providing more seats for when the homeowners have guests over. Tying in nicely with the kitchen’s dark cabinetry, the Kay quartz dining set is an ideal furnishing selection with the Henry chairs and bench upholstered in dark brown woven textile.

Do you know that the slanted tapered legs are actually made of steel? This not only provides a strong support in the Henry chairs and bench, but also maintains its slim profile. The tapered leg technique works best in enhancing elegance and creating a visually light illusion in keeping a sense of spaciousness in this home.

Coordinating The Furnishings In The Open Study Room

As for the open study room, the homeowners specially picked out the Wing armchair and Henry dining chair, both of them are in the same dark brown fabric upholstery. A sure way to match the furnishings is to look out for similar features in the legs and/or upholstery.

With the removable seat cushion on Wing armchair, it provides support and comfort for the homeowner’s reading pleasures. We think that a side table, like Dansk small coffee table will be a perfect addition to complete the space with a succulent planter and a place to put your cup or a magazine!
